Since April 10, «Lechia» had a chance to save themselves over six matches, but lost all of them. In the last round, the defeat to «Bruk-Bet Termalica» finally deprived the team of any chance to maintain their place in the league. They were just one point short of survival.
The club is also contesting the decision to deduct five points, which officially placed the team in 16th position. The management claims that the season ended in 12th place and considers the sanctions illegal. However, PZPN and sources close to the federation do not expect the points to be returned — at most, compensation is possible.
After the relegation, head coach John Carver announced his departure, taking advantage of a clause in his contract. He acknowledged that the team was exhausted and limited in rotation, and during the crucial moments of the season, they lacked squad depth.
The club is also criticizing personnel decisions: the reliance on the unstable goalkeeper Alex Polsen and the decline in form of key defenders exacerbated the crisis. As a result, «Lechia» became the worst team in the league based on results at the end of the season.
According to some players and experts, the root cause of the failure is the management decisions of Urfer, including previous financial mistakes and the prolonged legal dispute over the sanctions.
