Andrzej Poczobut, białoruski dziennikarz i aktywista, wraz z żoną Oksaną, odwiedził Gdańsk, gdzie został przyjęty przez przedstawicieli lokalnych władz i instytucji publicznych.
During the visit, Poczobut met with the Mayor of Gdańsk, Aleksandra Dulkiewicz, the Marshal of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, Mieczysław Struk, and also visited the Museum of the Second World War and the European Solidarity Centre. There, he left a note in the guestbook, thanking for the opportunity to «look at the difficult history from a new perspective.»

“A very touching moment: standing with Andrzej Poczobut on the ‘Drodze do wolności’ in front of his portrait in a gallery of more than twenty people ready to give their lives for the dream of a free and democratic Belarus. For five years, the European Solidarity Centre has been hosting the ‘Free Belarus’ exhibition and advocating for the release of political prisoners in various ways. It is gratifying to know that each of us can contribute to the great cause of solidarity with the victims,” says Magdalena Mistat, acting director of the European Solidarity Centre.

His speech at the Pomeranian Regional Assembly was particularly emotional — the hall greeted him with a standing ovation. Poczobut thanked the Poles for their long-standing support of the Belarusian diaspora and called for the continued organization of summer camps for Belarusian children, noting the difficult situation of Polish education in Belarus.
According to participants of the meeting, many did not hide their tears, and the visit itself was described as a symbol of solidarity and support for political prisoners.
