The National Centre for Research and Development (NCBR) has allocated over 38 million zlotys for the Perła Fit beer project. The agency states that the project has passed an evaluation by independent experts and was recommended for funding.
The new beer appeared on the market a few weeks ago, but the discussion has only heated up on social media now. Critics have pointed out that state funds have gone to a product associated with alcohol, even if it is in a «fit» version.

Some commentators have called such funding questionable. Social media users note that non-alcoholic beer and water already exist as obvious alternatives.
The National Centre for Counteracting Addictions (KCPU) has responded to the situation. The agency emphasized that it does not participate in the distribution of grants from the National Centre for Research and Development, but reminded that alcohol is a psychoactive and toxic substance with proven health risks.
The centre also stated that there is no safe level of alcohol consumption. It is associated with risks of heart disease, cancer, and mental disorders.
Experts added that even «light» or «fit» versions of alcohol can mislead consumers. The emphasis on the «benefits» of the product reduces the perception of risk and may lead to increased consumption.
KCPU emphasized that any projects related to alcohol require caution and must consider their impact on public health. The agency also stated that state policy should be aimed at reducing alcohol-related harm and enhancing addiction prevention.
