From June 23 to July 4, an unusual art installation, Museum of the Moon, will be on display at Centrum św. Jana. Inside the Gothic architectural monument, a seven-meter model of the Moon, created by British artist Luke Jerram based on real images provided by NASA, will be showcased. The opening is on June 23 with a disco party.
This is not the first time that Centrum św. Jana transforms its historic space into something extraordinary: last year, a similar project called «LeŚnia» turned the Gothic interior into a forest recreation area and attracted over 42,000 visitors. This time, instead of a forest, a huge silver Moon will hang under the arches of the temple.

The installation has already visited many cities around the world — according to the organizers, it has attracted over 30 million viewers and has been shown in more than 40 countries, including famous historical cathedrals, museums, and major cultural events — from the Commonwealth Games to Art Basel in Miami and the Natural History Museum in London, where it was seen by over two million people. This summer, the giant Moon will be available for the first time to residents and tourists of Gdańsk.
For the exhibition opening on June 23 at 8:30 PM, a special party called «Disco pod Księżycem» («Disco under the Moon») is planned. The music will be provided by the Soul Service collective.
