In Gdynia, the fire at the paper warehouse hangar was completely extinguished after three days

A large fire in a warehouse hangar on Pólnocna Street in Gdynia has been completely extinguished. The fight against the flames and the elimination of the consequences of the fire lasted three days. Final work on extinguishing and monitoring the fire site continued until Friday, after which the fire was fully extinguished.

According to the State Fire Service of the Pomeranian Voivodeship, the work at the scene was completed around 10:00 PM on Friday, April 24. Currently, the police are investigating the causes of the fire

The fire broke out on Thursday afternoon in a warehouse hangar where pressed paper was stored. In the first hours, several fire units were involved in extinguishing the fire, but due to the scale of the fire, their number was gradually increased to 28.

According to rescue services, the fire engulfed a large building and spread beyond its limits, also damaging service vehicles located near the warehouse. Firefighting robotics were used inside the building, while water was supplied from outside using water hoses.

Due to the risk of structural collapse, the building was not dismantled. Firefighters used heavy machinery to dismantle and soak the pressed paper to eliminate hidden smoldering spots. Drones were also used to monitor the situation.

The fire was localized a few hours after the operation began, but the final elimination of smoldering took another two days. On Friday, final work was carried out to soak and monitor the area to prevent re-ignition.

At the time of the incident, there were no reports of injuries. After the rescue operations were completed, the police began an investigation into the causes of the fire.
