Key streets in Gdynia will be closed: drivers can expect traffic jams and detours on August 2 and 3

Wyścig kolarski Tour de Pologne wraca do Gdyni, w związku z czym wprowadzone zostaną tymczasowe zamknięcia dróg, ograniczenia w parkowaniu oraz zakłócenia w komunikacji publicznej. Kierowcy, pasażerowie komunikacji publicznej oraz piesi powinni się wcześniej przygotować na zmiany.

A major sporting event will once again affect traffic organization in the city. Restrictions will come into effect on Sunday, August 2, with the main difficulties expected on Monday, August 3, when the peloton of race participants will pass through Gdynia.

The first closures will begin on August 2

The first changes will come into effect on Sunday, August 2, at 8:00 AM. On this day, al. Jana Pawła II will be partially closed.

Drivers will not be able to pass through the section from the entrance to the Marina towards Gdyńskie Akwarium, as well as in the opposite direction.

Additionally, parking spaces will be unavailable in this area. The temporary traffic organization will remain in place until approximately August 3, around 6:00 PM.

On August 3, a bike peloton will pass through the center of Gdynia

The main event is scheduled for Monday, August 3. The honorary start of the race will take place at 10:30.

Po starcie uczestnicy Tour de Pologne przejadą przez centralną część Gdyni. Trasa wyścigu przebiegać będzie m.in. wzdłuż następujących ulic:

  • 10 Lutego Street;
  • Janka Wiśniewskiego Street;
  • Morska Street;
  • Kartuska Street;
  • further towards ul. Marszewskiej.

During the passage of the cyclists’ column, traffic on the route will be temporarily halted. Restrictions will be introduced approximately 10–15 minutes before the participants pass.

Where do drivers face the biggest challenges?

Although the peloton moves quite quickly through the streets, temporary stops in traffic can lead to delays and local traffic jams

The most difficult for drivers will be those planning trips through:

  • the center of Gdynia;
  • the Śródmieście district;
  • the streets included in the race route.

City services warn: it is necessary to pay attention to temporary signs, follow the instructions of the staff ensuring the safety of the event, and consider possible delays

The restrictions will affect not only cars

Zmiany będą ważne nie tylko dla kierowców. Ograniczenia mogą wpłynąć na pasażerów transportu publicznego, pieszych i rowerzystów.

Residents and visitors of the city are advised to plan their routes in advance, especially in the first half of the day on August 3, when traffic along the race route will be temporarily regulated

Drivers are advised to avoid the central streets of Gdynia during the race and to choose alternative routes if possible
