Over 9,000 athletes took to the start of the Gdynia Half Marathon. The evening race took place under challenging weather conditions — pouring rain and strong winds
The competition on the streets of Gdynia began with the start of the elite runners. A group of 39 participants set off from Skwer Kościuszki in the battle for the title of the fastest runner and fastest runner in the half marathon distance in Poland. Then, the amateurs took to the course.
The highest pace in the men’s elite was set by Adam Nowicki, who finished the race with a time of 1:03:34. The men’s podium was completed by Patryk Kozłowski, who finished about a minute later, and Olivier Mutwil, who came in third.
Less than 10 minutes after Nowicki’s finish, spectators saw the winner of the women’s race. Aleksandra Lisowska completed the distance with a time of 1:13:18. The winner noted that Saturday’s start is just the beginning of her preparation for the main part of the season. Following her were Izabela Paśkiewicz and Beata Nemyjska.
In addition to the individual competition for the best results, 102 drużyny sztafetowe również rywalizowały.
