On August 12, 2026, residents of Poland will be able to witness a rare astronomical event — a deep partial solar eclipse. In Gdańsk, it will be broadcast live: the transmission is organized by Hevelianum.
The eclipse will begin at 19:11. The maximum phase is expected at 20:03, and by 20:34 the Sun will set below the horizon. The online broadcast will start at 19:30 and will last approximately one hour.

During the broadcast, Hevelianum specialists will talk about solar eclipses and show what this phenomenon will look like from the territory of Poland
Additionally, the organizers plan to connect to locations situated in the path of the total solar eclipse. Thanks to this, viewers will be able to see what the moment of the complete covering of the Sun by the Moon looks like.
The broadcast will take place on August 12 from 19:30 to 20:30.

When to expect the maximum phase
For observers in Poland, the eclipse will be partial. The largest phase will occur around 20:03, however, it will not be possible to see the phenomenon in its entirety from the territory of the country: the Sun will soon set below the horizon.
The last total solar eclipse observed in continental Europe occurred on August 11, 1999. The next similar event will take place on August 2, 2027 — it will be the longest total solar eclipse visible from land in the 21st century. In the path of totality, it will last for more than six minutes.
However, a total solar eclipse that will be visible directly from the territory of Poland will have to be waited for much longer — until 2135.
