«Peace, Safety, and Recovery»: A Gdańsk Cat House Will Open in Tricity

This is an important step for the animals from the shelter «Promyk». A contract has been signed for the construction of the Gdańsk Cat House — a place that will provide cats with peace, safety, and the best conditions for recovery and preparation for adoption.

As part of the investment, a complex of three buildings will be created. It will house a modern veterinary center with diagnostic and procedural facilities. The two-story building for cats will have designated areas: quarantine, isolation, and socialization. There will also be outdoor spaces. The area will feature sidewalks, driveways, parking lots, fencing, and technical infrastructure.

Piótr Gżelak, Deputy Mayor for Sustainable Development and Economy:

“This will be a quiet, safe place designed to meet the needs of animals as much as possible — both in terms of veterinary care and their well-being. In the living area, cats will be able to hide and also use outdoor spaces such as balconies. The veterinary clinic in the new complex will serve not only cats but also other small animals.

The concept of this investment was developed as part of long-term cooperation with volunteers and social partners united in the Stakeholder Council.”

Access to the shelter is planned from Przyrodników Street. The cost of the signed contract amounts to nearly 13 million zlotys. The implementation of the project will take about 15 months from the date of signing the contract.

There are about 150 cats in «Promyk». Many of them, having gone through a difficult experience, need treatment and socialization. The Gdańsk Cat House is being created specifically for them. The separation of spaces for dogs and cats will help reduce animal stress, improve sanitary standards, and enhance the comfort of staff and volunteer activities.
