In Poland, there are 2 million foreigners: the majority are Ukrainians, followed by Belarusians

Currently, there are 2 million foreigners with valid residence permits in Poland. The largest group — 1.55 million people — consists of citizens of Ukraine, reported Katarzyna Siwak from the Office for Foreigners. Foreigners most often choose cities for living.

According to data from the Office for Foreigners (UdSC), the main form of legal stay remains temporary protection (UKR status), granted based on an executive decision of the EU Council. Currently, 961 thousand people benefit from it, of which 958 thousand are citizens of Ukraine. Among those registered in the PESEL system under a special law, about 83% are women and children.

As Katarzyna Siwak noted, a total of 2 million foreigners have valid residence permits in Poland. The largest group consists of citizens of Ukraine — 1.55 million people

A significant proportion also includes citizens of:
Belarus — 139.3 thousand,
India — 26.1 thousand,
Georgia — 22.2 thousand,
Russia — 19.5 thousand,
Vietnam — 15.1 thousand,
Turkey — 14.5 thousand.

758 thousand foreigners have temporary residence permits, with the main stated purpose of stay being work. In turn, 191 thousand people have permanent residence permits and EU long-term resident status.

Foreigners most often settle in regions with a high level of urbanization. The highest concentration of migrants is observed in the Mazowieckie, Lower Silesian, Greater Poland, and Lesser Poland voivodeships, Siwak noted.

The data presented by the Office does not include foreigners who are in the country on visas or under a visa-free regime
