Mother in Gdańsk reported her daughters missing — it turned out they just went to the shopping mall

On Monday afternoon (May 4), the Gdańsk police received a report about a possible abduction of two teenagers. According to the reporting party, her 14- and 17-year-old daughters stayed in a taxi while she went to withdraw money from an ATM. When the woman returned, neither the taxi nor the children were there.

— Around 3:00 PM, the police received a report about the abduction of the 14- and 17-year-old girls. Officers began searching for the minors. According to the reporting party, the teenagers stayed in the taxi while their mother went to withdraw money from the ATM. When the woman returned, it turned out that neither the taxi nor her daughters were there, — says Senior Police Officer Mariusz Hżanowski, spokesperson for the City Police Headquarters in Gdańsk.

As he clarifies, the reporting party’s phone was also left in the car. The frightened woman took another taxi to the nearest police station and reported the abduction of her daughters.

Searches and road closures began

— Intensive searches were immediately initiated, and roadblocks were set up in the Pomeranian Voivodeship. At the same time, the police were checking various versions of what happened, — emphasizes Hżanowski.

As it turned out, the teenagers paid for the ride themselves and went to one of the shopping centers, not waiting for their mother to return. They could not contact her because she did not have her phone.

— After 5:00 PM, the actions were concluded, and the police handed the teenagers over to their mother, — he summarized.
