The 28-year-old resident of Gdańsk met a man through a popular dating app. As established by the officers of the II Police Station in Gdańsk, the acquaintance lasted several months. During this time, the couple met four times.
The 36-year-old man created an image of a successful person from the very beginning. He spoke of a large fortune, cash, and investment opportunities. According to the investigation, he convinced the woman that together they could invest money and earn high profits.
However, the man used a fictitious name and surname. The woman was unaware for a long time that the person she was communicating with might be leading a double life.
During a meeting on April 29, the woman brought with her 30,000 zlotys. This money was related to a planned investment she had previously discussed with the man. The meeting took place in a hotel. At one point, the 28-year-old woman went to take a shower. Then the 36-year-old man took advantage of the situation and fled the room with the bag containing the money.
The police identified him and arrested the 36-year-old resident of Kołobrzeg in his partner’s apartment.
He has been charged with theft. He faces up to 5 years in prison
