On Sunday, May 10, an event called "Z książką wśród zwierząt" took place at the "Promyk" Animal Shelter in Gdańsk. It combined a love for reading with helping homeless dogs and cats. Residents could spend time with the animals, reading them excerpts from their favorite books.
The main goal of the event was to help the animals socialize. A calm human voice helps dogs and cats get used to people, feel safe, and experience less stress. This is especially important for timid animals and those with difficult pasts.
Both adults and children participated in the event. The reading took place under the supervision of shelter staff and volunteers, who ensured the comfort and safety of the animals.
Books could be borrowed on-site or brought from home. The meeting took place in a calm, cozy atmosphere and showed that even a small gesture is important for animals waiting for a new home
The event generated great interest among residents. It was an opportunity not only to help the animals but also to learn more about how the shelter operates and what the volunteers do
