Late in the evening on May 14, the police stopped city bus No. 289 in Gdańsk after reports of a man walking down the street with a weapon and behaving aggressively.
The suspect was spotted when he boarded the bus. After the vehicle was stopped, police officers entered the cabin and demanded to see the item the man was concealing. In response, he pulled out a 50 cm machete, causing panic among the passengers.
The law enforcement officers quickly subdued the 34-year-old man and arrested him. According to the police, he was in a state of severe alcohol intoxication — over two per mille of alcohol in his blood.
