This was stated in an interview with DW by the EU Special Representative for Ukrainian Affairs, Ilva Johansson.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to her, EU countries continue to agree on a common approach to further extending the mechanism<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cNajprawdopodobniej podejmiemy decyzj\u0119 o przed\u0142u\u017ceniu tymczasowej ochrony. Mo\u017ce z drobnymi korektami, ale kluczowym punktem jest na kolejny rok,\u201d powiedzia\u0142a Johansson.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">She noted that she expects an official proposal from the European Commission soon, as the member states are generally ready to support the initiative<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">At the same time, according to her, the EU is aware of the uncertainty that Ukrainians are experiencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cWe do not see the prospects for a quick peace agreement. Therefore, people must understand how the situation may develop further,\u201d she stated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Johansson r\u00f3wnie\u017c podkre\u015bli\u0142, \u017ce Ukrai\u0144cy powinni ju\u017c rozwa\u017cy\u0107 przej\u015bcie z ochrony tymczasowej na inne podstawy prawne do pobytu w UE.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cStaying under temporary protection for 5\u20136 years is not the best option. We need to transition to a more stable legal status,\u201d she said.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Let us remind you that the temporary protection mechanism was activated by the EU in March 2022 after the start of Russia&#039;s full-scale invasion of Ukraine. It grants Ukrainians the right to live, work, and study in EU countries.
