{"id":1170,"date":"2026-05-27T13:07:20","date_gmt":"2026-05-27T11:07:20","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/trojmiasto.online\/?p=1170"},"modified":"2026-05-27T13:07:21","modified_gmt":"2026-05-27T11:07:21","slug":"gdansk-stal-gorodom-spasitelem-zelenskij-otmetil-pomoshh-ukraine","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/trojmiasto.online\/en\/gdansk\/gdansk-stal-gorodom-spasitelem-zelenskij-otmetil-pomoshh-ukraine\/","title":{"rendered":"Gda\u0144sk has become a \"city of salvation\": Zelensky highlighted assistance to Ukraine"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>The President of Ukraine, Volodymyr Zelensky, has awarded Gda\u0144sk the honorary title of &#171;city of savior.&#187; This is how Kyiv recognizes cities that have provided exceptional support to Ukraine and its citizens amid the war unleashed by Russia.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">According to the decree published on May 26, the award is given &quot;for humanitarianism, compassion, and solidarity with the Ukrainian people, for the protection of Ukrainian citizens forced to leave their homeland, as well as for significant contributions to the support of the country&#039;s independence and sovereignty&quot;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Along with Gda\u0144sk, this status has been granted to Budapest, Tallinn, and Saint-Germain-en-Laye.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The title of &#171;city of savior&#187; has been awarded by Ukraine since May 2022. The first recipient was Rzesz\u00f3w, followed by Przemy\u015bl and Prague. In 2023, Vilnius, Lublin, Che\u0142m, and Paris joined the list, and in 2025, Warsaw will be added.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The Mayor of Gda\u0144sk emphasized that this award is a symbol of gratitude from the Ukrainian people to the city&#8217;s residents:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Gda\u0144sk is a city of savior. This recognition is for humanitarian convoys, daily assistance, initiatives within the &quot;Gda\u0144sk Helps Ukraine&quot; campaign, and for the solidarity we show every day. Thank you for this sign of appreciation to our residents.
