On August 8th in Gda\u0144sk, the traditional night sky observation "17. Nocne Podgl\u0105danie Wszech\u015bwiata" will take place \u2014 an annual event organized by Hevelianum. The evening will be dedicated to the Perseid meteor shower<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

According to an old tradition, when you see a shooting star, you should make a wish, so the organizers recommend preparing a list of wishes in advance. This year, the night will provide particularly good conditions for observing the peak of the meteor shower<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Program<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

The program will start at 8:00 PM with a screening of a film<\/strong> about whether stars actually fall. <\/p>\n\n\n\n

At 21:00, there will be a ceremony for the awards of the international astrophotography competition AstroCamera<\/strong>, followed by a presentation of the winners’ photos with comments for the participants.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The astronomical observations will take place from 10:00 PM to midnight<\/strong>, when the event will conclude.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In Strefa Heweliusza<\/strong>, you can learn about the historical instruments of Gda\u0144sk astronomer Jan Heweliusz and personally build one of the devices based on his blueprints.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Dark Sky Protection Zone<\/strong> will talk about light pollution and its impact on observations, nature, and human health \u2014 this area is overseen by Politechnika Gda\u0144ska.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Astronautical Zone<\/strong> is dedicated to the Artemis program and the return of humans to the Moon: here you can assemble a model of the Apollo lunar module, see the LEM Mars Rover created by members of the student club SKALP, and take a virtual tour of the International Space Station in VR goggles.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the Strefa meteoryt\u00f3w<\/strong>, guests will be able to see real meteorites, learn the difference between a meteor, a bolide, and a meteorite, and in the evening, participate in the search for meteorites on the grounds of G\u00f3ry Gradowej.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A mobile planetarium will also be operating, featuring a talk about upcoming astronomical events, including the upcoming solar eclipse, as well as an exhibition of student works from Akademii Sztuk Pi\u0119knych, inspired by the legacy of Hevelius<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A themed quest game with tasks organized for all ages throughout the area<\/p>\n\n\n\n
