The relevant changes are provided for in the draft amendments to the traffic law. The main provisions were published by the Ministry of Infrastructure on September 1, 2026, in the government’s work list.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Currently, the validity period of the technical inspection is effectively counted from the day the vehicle underwent the check. This means that an early visit to the station may result in the new period starting earlier.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

A car can be sent for mandatory technical inspection a maximum of 30 days before the expiration of the current inspection. The new validity period will be calculated from the expiration date of the previous one.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

For example, if the vehicle inspection expires on October 30, the driver will be able to undergo the check as early as the beginning of October and will not lose the remaining days<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Another important innovation is the mandatory photographic documentation of the vehicle’s presence at the vehicle control station<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Thus, the authorities want to confirm that the car was indeed at the station during the technical inspection. This should enhance control over the work of diagnosticians and limit potential abuses.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The changes also include strengthening oversight of companies that conduct technical inspections and the diagnosticians working there<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The starosts will gain new powers<\/h3>\n\n\n\n

According to the project, the starosts will receive the authority for direct supervision of technical inspections<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Their responsibilities will include, among other things, maintaining the register of diagnosticians<\/strong> \u2014 from adding a specialist to the register to suspending, restoring, or completely revoking the right to conduct technical inspections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The project provides for the reform of the system for training specialists who conduct technical inspections<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Director of the Institute of Motor Transport (Instytut Transportu Samochodowego) and the Director of the Transport Technical Supervision (Transportowy Doz\u00f3r Techniczny) will be responsible for organizing seminars for instructors working in diagnostic training centers<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Additionally, it is planned to regulate the activities of the training centers themselves<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The Ministry of Infrastructure notes that the work of such institutions is currently hardly regulated by legislation and is not under appropriate supervision. The new regulations should establish clear rules for their operations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Control over entrepreneurs and organizations that prepare diagnosticians is to be transferred to the Transport Technical Supervision.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Important: this is only a draft. The current rules remain unchanged for now.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n
