Patrols were intensified on the roads, with a main focus on sobriety checks for drivers and traffic safety. As a result, several people were detained<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The first arrests began on Thursday, April 30. Throughout the day, police stopped eight drivers who got behind the wheel after consuming alcohol, as well as one person driving a car despite having their license revoked.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">One of the first incidents occurred in the morning on Kili\u0144skiego Street, where a 53-year-old Skoda driver from Ukraine was found to have a blood alcohol level of 0.2 \u2030 \u2014 his driver&#8217;s license was immediately confiscated. A few hours later, a Peugeot driver was stopped in Gdynia, who had over 0.4 \u2030, and he also lost his driving privileges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The most high-profile case occurred on Friday. On Pastelowa Street, the police detained a 43-year-old woman driving a Mercedes. Her blood alcohol level was 2.5 per mille \u2014 one of the highest readings recorded during the May checks. Additionally, she had previously been stripped of her driving license for a similar offense. The woman was arrested and taken to the police station.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On the same evening, another serious incident occurred: on Sucharskiego Street, a 27-year-old resident of Gda\u0144sk driving a Mitsubishi caused a traffic accident. A check revealed 1.5 per mille of alcohol in her system. She was taken to the hospital for a blood draw, and the car was towed away.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">On Saturday, checks continued early in the morning. Already at 7:20 on S\u0142owackiego Street, a 65-year-old Renault driver was stopped \u2014 he had over 0.5 per mille. Almost immediately on My\u015bliwska Street, another drunk driver was detained \u2014 a 66-year-old man behind the wheel of a Ford. Later on Abrahama Street, the police checked a 76-year-old Mazda driver, who was found to have 0.6 per mille. He also lost his driving license, and his car was towed. On the same day on Pla\u017cy\u0144skiego Street, a 27-year-old resident of P\u0142ock was detained while driving a Kia, despite having previously lost his driving privileges.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Additionally, electric scooter users and cyclists were checked \u2014 a total of five scooter riders and three cyclists were found to be under the influence. One of the cyclists, a 50-year-old man, received a fine of 2500 zlotys for riding with a blood alcohol content of 0.9 per mille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The police remind that driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol in Poland can result in a penalty of up to 3 years of imprisonment, hefty fines, revocation of driving licenses, and a ban on driving.
