In the Wielki Kack area of Gdynia, local residents have repeatedly noticed an unusual «neighbor» — a badger that was completely unafraid of people and would calmly appear among the houses even during the day. The animal wandered the streets, peeked into trash containers, and entered private gardens.
Local residents have often complained about the pesky neighbor. The eco-patrol caught the badger twice and took it to the nearest forest, hoping it would stay there. But each time, it returned to the same area and continued to appear among the houses.
Since the animal was in a risk zone — especially due to vehicle traffic — a decision was made to take it away permanently. The badger was carefully captured and transported far from residential houses, deeper into the forest. There, it has a better chance to live peacefully and gradually adapt to the natural environment.
The number of animals in the city is increasing
The municipal guard of Gdynia notes that there are many calls related to animals: since the beginning of the year, there have been about 1,200, while last year there were almost 3,500.
