In the Wielki Kack area of Gdynia, local residents have often noticed an unusual «neighbor» — a badger that was completely unafraid of people and calmly appeared among the houses even during the day. The animal wandered the streets, peeked into garbage containers, and entered private gardens.
Local residents have complained multiple times about the annoying neighbor. The eco patrol has caught the badger twice and taken it to the nearest forest, hoping it would stay there. But each time it returned to the same area and continued to appear among the houses.
This is quite atypical behavior for badgers — usually, they live hidden, are active at night, and try to avoid people. But this animal clearly felt quite confident in the city. According to the guards, the badger was not afraid of people, dogs, or cars. There is a theory that it may have been born in an urban environment and simply got used to the presence of humans
Since the animal was in a risk zone — especially due to traffic — a decision was made to take it away permanently. The badger was carefully captured and taken further away from residential areas, deeper into the forest. There, it has a better chance to live peacefully and gradually adapt to the natural environment
