Solar Eclipse on August 12 in Poland
A partial solar eclipse will begin on the evening of August 12. The start time depends on the city. In Gdańsk, the phenomenon will start around 19:11, the maximum phase is expected around 20:05, and the eclipse will end around 20:23. Thus, it will be possible to observe it for more than an hour.
In different regions of Poland, the duration and maximum phase of the eclipse will vary. It will be most noticeable in the western and southern parts of the country. In some areas of Dolny Śląsk, the Moon will cover up to 88% of the solar disk.
Residents of the eastern part of Poland will be less fortunate: in some places, the Sun will set below the horizon even before the maximum phase of the eclipse occurs
When observing, caution must be exercised. Looking directly at the Sun without special protection is dangerous for your eyesight. Special eclipse glasses or a certified solar filter are required for observation. Regular sunglasses are not suitable.
