Gdańsk is more expensive than Rome and Athens: how much does housing cost in the peak season

The average cost of two nights in Gdańsk from August 14 to 16 was 2437 zlotys. For comparison, a quarter of the cheapest offers in the city started at around 1882 zlotys. In Rome, this figure was about 916 zlotys, while in Athens it was 668 zlotys.

High prices are primarily related to the tourist peak and the final days of the Jarmark św. Dominika, which attracts a large number of visitors to Gdańsk.

The market structure also affects the results. About 60% of the offers in Gdańsk are entire apartments and flats. In comparison, their share in Rome is about 7.5%, and in Nice, it is approximately 13%.

But even when considering only hotels and hostels, Gdańsk remains expensive. The median cost of two nights here is around 2180 zł. In Rome, it’s about 1335 zł, and in Athens — 1064 zł.

At the same time, budget options can be found: about 10% of the offers cost less than 1000 zlotys for two nights.

The relationship between the price and rating of housing is interesting. In Athens, one point of evaluation costs about 96 zł, in Rome — 136 zł, while in Gdańsk it is around 276 zł. The only worse figure is in Nice.

It is important to note that we are talking about specific dates in the peak season. After the conclusion of the Jarmark św. Dominika, accommodation prices in Gdańsk may decrease
