In Poland, the rules of the deposit system may be changed. The Ministry of Climate and Environment plans to extend the validity period of packaging return vouchers and establish uniform rules for all stores and operators
Currently, the validity period of the voucher is set by the stores and operators themselves, with a minimum of 30 days. The Ministry wants to extend it and make it uniform across the country.
“We want to extend this period and, above all, standardize it,” said Deputy Minister of Climate Anita Sowińska. The analytical work will be completed in September, after which the authorities will determine specific changes
Bonuses can be used for the next purchase or exchanged for cash; the store cannot refuse to pay out.

The system will be in effect from October 1, 2025, and will cover plastic bottles up to 3 liters and metal cans up to 1 liter with a deposit of 50 groszy. Starting in 2026, it will also include reusable glass bottles up to 1.5 liters with a deposit of 1 złoty
