The «Rowerowy Maj» campaign started on May 4th. This is a nationwide initiative promoting a healthy lifestyle and active movement among children. From May 4th to May 29th, 2026, students and preschoolers will travel to schools and kindergartens by bicycle, scooter, rollerblades, or skateboard and will receive prizes for doing so.
The project has been motivating children to be more active for many years. It demonstrates that a bicycle is a convenient and eco-friendly mode of transport. Children also learn independence and safe behavior on the road.
Participation is simple: for each active trip, a child receives a sticker in their personal diary and on the class poster. The more regularly they participate, the greater their chances of winning prizes—both personal and for the entire group.
In 2026, 238 institutions in Gdańsk are participating in the campaign: 137 kindergartens and 101 schools. This is more than in previous years.
Prizes
Participants can win trips to the cinema, theater, workshops, and sports activities. Among the partners are TrainMeNow, the Great Elf Factory, and GIWK.
The most active schools will also receive cash rewards from the city of Gdańsk and its partners.
Separate prizes are provided for coordinators, including trips, gift cards, and access to the city bike rental Mevo.
