In honor of the 100th anniversary of Gdynia, the city is preparing a unique project — the longest lip dub in the world, a music video shot in one continuous take. Its duration will exceed 20 minutes, and thousands of residents will participate in the filming. The project aims to showcase Gdynia in its jubilee year through iconic places, people, and the urban atmosphere. Applications for participation are accepted until July 20.
A lip dub is a format of a music video without editing cuts, where participants move through the streets, dance, and "sing" along to pre-recorded music. This format has existed for about 20 years and is often used for large urban projects
The "Gdynia LIPDUB 100" project will bring together residents, organizations, and institutions of the city — from sports clubs and creative groups to emergency services and volunteers
The musical foundation will consist of Anna Jantar’s compositions «Tyle słońca w całym mieście» and Bobby McFerrin’s «Don’t Worry, Be Happy.» Filming will take place on September 6 in various locations around Gdynia.
The finale is planned in Kościuszko Square, where participants will take a group commemorative photo
The organizers plan to break the existing record set in Kapfenberg, Austria, in 2014: at that time, the clip lasted nearly 19 minutes and gathered over 6,000 participants. The Gdynia project is expected to surpass both marks — in duration and number of participants
According to the organizers, this is not only a mass urban show but also a symbol of unity, creativity, and pride for the city, bringing together different generations and communities in one frame
