The video provided by an animal protection organization helped the Gdańsk police track down a man who was cruelly treating a dog. The suspect has been detained, and the animal has been taken to a shelter
The incident occurred in the residential area of Przymorze in Gdańsk. The recording was made back in October 2025, but it reached the police later — through the animal protection organization to which it was handed over by witnesses.
The footage clearly shows the man pulling and lifting the dog by its collar and kicking it during a walk. These images became the main evidence in the initial stage of the investigation.
Police officers from the station on Obrońców Wybrzeża Street analyzed the video, interviewed witnesses, and conducted operational work. As a result, they were able to establish the address from which the dog was walked and the identity of the suspect. He turned out to be a 21-year-old citizen of Ukraine without permanent registration.
At the beginning of the week, the police, along with shelter staff, went to the established address to check on the animal’s condition. It turned out that the man was the sole owner of the dog. After inspecting and questioning those present, a decision was made to seize the animal. The dog was taken to the shelter, where it received the necessary assistance.
The suspect was not found in the apartment. According to operational data, he might have been in one of the gaming halls in the city. Soon, he was discovered in the Siedlce area and taken to the station.
The man has been charged with animal cruelty. Under Polish law, this carries a penalty of up to 3 years in prison.
