The Central Bureau of Investigation of the Police (CBŚP) together with the police of Gdańsk has uncovered a group of car thieves operating in Poland and Germany. Four people have been arrested. Property worth over 700,000 zlotys and parts from at least eight stolen cars have been seized.
In April, law enforcement conducted an operation against a group that stole cars in Germany and then dismantled and sold them in Poland. Two men were caught red-handed in a garage in Gdańsk County — they were dismantling a stolen Toyota. Other spare parts and untaxed tobacco products were also found on site.
On the same day, two women were arrested. According to the investigation, they were responsible for transporting the stolen cars and dismantling them. During searches, documents for the cars and amphetamines were found with them.
Later, the police carried out actions in Wejherowo County. There, the group stored spare parts and sold them online. Investigators have already confirmed that some of the parts belong to at least eight stolen Toyota cars.
During the operation, counterfeit license plates, equipment for stealing cars, and over 700,000 zlotys in various currencies were also seized
The arrested individuals have been charged with participating in an organized group, burglary, and using counterfeit plates. According to the investigation, they operated for about four years. Three suspects have been detained.
