Every summer, comparisons of vacation prices in Poland and abroad appear on the internet. Tourists show that a night in a hotel in Marseille can sometimes cost less than at popular resorts on the Polish Baltic coast. And although much depends on the date and standard of accommodation, the trend remains noticeable: a vacation by the Polish sea during the summer season is one of the most expensive destinations within the country
In Marseille, a double room in a budget hotel can be found for about 200–300 zlotys per night. In Hel and Jastarnia, prices in the summer often start from 600 zlotys and go up to 800 zlotys per night. According to Travelist, the average cost of accommodation in Polish 3–5 star hotels in the 2026 season is around 670 zlotys, and at the most popular resorts, it is even higher

The main reason for the high prices is the short season. The full tourist period on the Baltic lasts only about two and a half months—mainly in July and August. At the same time, property owners have to pay taxes, loans, maintenance, and salaries year-round. They must cover a large part of their expenses during a few weeks of maximum occupancy
Moreover, the number of attractive places by the sea is limited. Resorts develop along a narrow strip near the beaches, and new projects are often restricted by building regulations. With high demand, owners can raise prices, as there are still many people wanting to vacation by the Baltic.
The cost of vacations is also influenced by rising business expenses. The increase in energy and food prices has led to higher costs not only for accommodation but also for dining: at some beaches, snacks cost around 25 złotys, and fish in restaurants costs about 40 złotys.
Despite the high prices, Poles continue to choose the Baltic. The popularity of domestic tourism, the aftermath of the pandemic, and the desire to vacation close to home support demand, and thus prices.
One can save money by choosing lesser-known resorts and accommodations away from the front line. However, a trip to Polish resorts during the peak season in 2026 remains an expensive pleasure
