The summer season on the Baltic Sea is in full swing, and along with thousands of vacationers, familiar problems are returning to the resorts. A resident of the Polish coast, psychologist Agnieszka Zając, published an emotional post on social media, criticizing the behavior of some tourists, calling the situation an «annual festival of shame.»
According to her, the reason was the events of the past weekend, which «overflowed the cup of patience.» She emphasized that the problem is not with tourists per se, but with the lack of respect for others.
Breakfast, beer, and music for the whole terrace
Agnieszka recounted that she was having breakfast at a seaside restaurant. There, her attention was drawn to two men at neighboring tables — both shirtless. One was already drinking beer at ten in the morning, while the other played music on a speaker so loudly that all the patrons could hear it.
Then he placed his phone on the table, took off his shoes, and propped his feet in dirty socks on the back of a chair next to another restaurant guest.
«I have no problem with tourists. I have a problem with the lack of respect for other people,» she emphasized.
What annoys the most while on vacation
The psychologist also listed behaviors she considers unacceptable. According to her, vacation does not cancel the rules of social behavior.
- When someone sets up a windbreak, three blankets, a cooler, a tent, bags, toys, and half of their belongings on the beach so that their neighbor has no place to put their foot — this is not "summer relaxation."
- When someone plays music on a speaker and forces everyone around to listen to their playlist — this is not "fun."
- When someone smokes on a crowded beach, and the smoke blows directly onto children and other vacationers — this is not "their personal business."
- When someone leaves trash behind — this is not "accidental forgetfulness."
- When groups of people walk in the middle of the sidewalk or bike path as if no one is bothering them, forgetting that Trójmiasto is not an open-air tourist museum, but an ordinary city where people live — this is not "the atmosphere of vacation."
She emphasized that vacation does not exempt one from respect, cultural behavior, and basic manners.
