Gdańsk Jazz Nights: Universal Earth

«Gdańskie Noce Jazzowe» returns to Teatr Leśny in a new format. Ahead are two weekends of jazz in the heart of the forest. On stage — new voices from the improvisational scene and local ensembles. This year, the focus is on chamber sound, acoustic atmosphere, and a thoughtful meeting between artists and the audience.
A special place in the program is occupied by the finals of the creative residencies. Their participants meet in Gdańsk for the first time, without a prepared repertoire and a pre-assembled ensemble. Over the course of two days, they search for a common musical language, and the concert becomes the immediate result of this meeting. This year, artists from Vilnius are participating in the Teatr Leśny residencies as part of the «Vilnius in Gdańsk» project.
The program for the first evening:
20:00 — Universal Earth Marcin Szumal — vocals, piano Józefina Bałdyka — vocals, violin
Uniwersalna Earth — a duet from Tricity. The group consists of two vocals, piano, guitar, and violin. Their music is fresh, warm, and organic, with an important role of the lyrics that bring them closer to the audience, while the form and style are akin to poetry. This is music that creates a space for pause, tranquility, warmth, and intimacy
21:30 — Vilnius in Gdańsk: final of the residency Michał Korsak — drums Mikołaj Prościński — guitar Milena Handszu — alto saxophone Simonas Kaupinis — tuba Salomėja Kalvelytė — flute
