The animal shelter «Promyk» has launched a temporary home program for dogs and cats. Now, animals have a chance to live in a calm home environment until they meet their permanent owner. This is an alternative to shelter kennels and a way to make adoption more conscious and successful.
A temporary home is when a person takes an animal in for a while until a permanent family is found for it.
— A dog or cat lives in normal home conditions, without the noise and stress typical of a shelter. At the same time, the animal remains under the care of «Promyk»: the shelter provides veterinary assistance and consultation support, — explains Gdańsk city hall representative Jędrzej Selwoniczek.
Who can become a temporary guardian
The program is aimed at responsible people who understand the needs of animals and want to help — even if they are not yet ready for permanent adoption. The initiative emerged after a pilot phase and is a response to the growing interest of Gdańsk residents in this form of assistance.
