The 30th International Shakespeare Festival will take place in Gdańsk. The program includes performances from Canada, the United Kingdom, Romania, the Czech Republic, Spain, and Poland. We have gathered all the details.
This year's theme — "Praise of Madness" — is dedicated to Prof. Jerzy Limon, the founder of the festival and the initiator of the restoration of the Shakespeare Theatre in Gdańsk
The festival will bring together works by renowned directors, including Robert Lepage and Silviu Purcărete, as well as new contemporary productions
The festival will open on July 23 with a gala performance directed by Mariusz Babicki, which will summarize 30 years of the event's history. On stage, among others, Andrzej Seweryn will perform
On July 30, audiences will see the legendary "Hamlet. Prince of Denmark" by Teatr im. Heleny Modrzejewskiej in Legnica, directed by Jacek Głomb and Krzysztof Kopka. The performance has been running continuously for 25 years and will be shown for the first time as part of the Shakespeare Festival program
The International Shakespeare Festival is organized by the Gdańsk Shakespeare Theatre and the Theatrum Gedanense Foundation. For three decades, it has remained one of the most important theatrical events in Poland and Europe
