In Gdańsk, the police detained a 19-year-old man suspected of burglary. According to law enforcement, he broke the glass of a flower vending machine, stole two bouquets, and handed them over to some female acquaintances.
The incident occurred on the night of April 14 around 2:00 AM. A report of the break-in was received by the police, and within less than 20 minutes, officers apprehended the alleged offender.
According to the police, the young man, who was likely under the influence of alcohol, tore down a road sign and then used it to break the glass of the flower vending machine. The perpetrator turned out to be a 19-year-old citizen of Ukraine. He was detained and spent the night in a police cell. The damage he caused was estimated at over 10,000 zlotys.
The suspect was taken to the police station, where he spent the night in a cell. He refused to give a statement but admitted his guilt. He has been charged with burglary. Under Polish law, this crime carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison.
The police seized recordings from surveillance cameras and interviewed a witness to the incident.
“The moral? Flowers make an impression… but it’s better to buy them legally,” the police summarized on social media.
