Ukrainian Vladislav Lupaśko became the new head coach of Lechia Gdańsk

The new head coach of Lechia Gdańsk is 39-year-old Ukrainian specialist Vladyslav Lypashko. He has signed a three-year contract. Previously, the coach worked at «Karpaty» Lviv. His assistants will be Spaniard Abraham Campomar and Pole Krzysztof Bredy.

“Dziś zaczynam nowy etap mojej podróży. Bycie mianowanym głównym trenerem Lechii to dla mnie wielki zaszczyt i jeszcze większa odpowiedzialność. Mogę obiecać: każdego dnia będziemy pracować uczciwie, aby stworzyć zespół, z którego kibice będą dumni. Dziękuję za zaufanie,” powiedział Lypashko.

The new staff immediately faces a difficult task: at the time of signing the contract, the club received a transfer ban from the Polish Football Association (PZPN) and cannot register new players

The search for a head coach for Lechia took longer than expected. After exhausting options in the Polish market, club president Paolo Urfer turned to candidates abroad. The choice fell on Lypashko, who is well acquainted with the white-and-green colors — he previously worked at Lviv’s «Karpaty,» which plays in a similar color scheme.

It was there that he met Abraham Campomar, who is now part of his staff. Campomar previously worked at «Zarya» Luhansk, Kazakhstan’s «Aktobe,» and also with the Ukrainian national team. The third assistant will be Lechia graduate Krzysztof Bredy.

In nearly 20 years of playing career, Lypashko played about 350 matches in Ukrainian clubs. After retiring, he coached the second-league «Inhulets,» and then spent one and a half seasons at «Karpaty,» where he received positive reviews.

Lypashko został dziesiątym zagranicznym trenerem w historii Lechii Gdańsk.

On Wednesday, the parties agreed on the details of the contract, and already on Thursday, July 2, he held his first training session. On Saturday at 11:30, the team under his leadership will play a friendly match against «Olimpia» Grudziądz.
