Thousands of foreigners received Polish citizenship last year — mostly Ukrainians and Belarusians

According to the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA), among the new citizens, there are about 10,000 Ukrainians and 6,500 Belarusians. Citizenship was also granted to 759 Russians

The majority of applicants received Polish citizenship thanks to the Karta Polaka and permanent residence

The authorities note that Ukrainians and Belarusians have been the largest groups among new citizens of Poland for several years. This is due to the fact that the Karta Polaka and permanent residence permit significantly simplify the path to citizenship

In the case of Ukrainian refugees, authorities emphasize that the protection status itself does not expedite the acquisition of citizenship

Sejm: In the past year, over 19,000 foreigners acquired Polish citizenship
