According to the Polish Ministry of Interior and Administration (MSWiA), among the new citizens, about 10,000 are Ukrainians and 6,500 are Belarusians. Additionally, 759 Russians have also obtained citizenship.
The majority of applicants received Polish citizenship thanks to the Pole’s Card and permanent residence.
The ministry notes that Ukrainians and Belarusians have been the largest groups among new citizens of Poland for several years. This is due to the fact that the Pole’s Card and permanent residence significantly simplify the path to citizenship.
In the case of Ukrainian refugees, authorities emphasize that the protection status itself does not expedite the acquisition of citizenship.
