A scandal has erupted in Gdańsk surrounding the district councilor of the Śródmieście district, Dominik Parzyszek. The reason is a video published on TikTok, in which a man resembling the councilor speaks positively about Putin and criticizes Poland’s support for Ukraine. After the recording spread widely on the internet, the councilor issued an official statement claiming that the video was fabricated by AI.
What was on the recording
In the video, a person resembling a deputy states that his enemy is not Vladimir Putin, but «the country from which the Bandera supporters come,» and expresses dissatisfaction that Poland «is hindering the fight against Bandera-ism.» These words have provoked a sharp reaction from social media users and local media.
Statement of the Deputy
A few days after the recording appeared, Dominik Parzyszek published a lengthy statement in which he categorically denied authorship of the remarks. He stated that his image and voice had allegedly been used and altered with the help of AI to spread false information.
The deputy emphasized that he supports Ukraine and believes that Ukrainians «are also fighting for peace in Europe.» In his statement, he reminded that he provided shelter to Ukrainian refugees, participated in charity events, and organized activities in memory of the murdered mayor of Gdańsk, Paweł Adamowicz. According to him, he has nothing to do with the pro-Russian theses attributed to him in the video.

Zespół redakcyjny Puls Gdańska skontaktował się z polskim instytutem państwowym NASK, aby ocenić, czy wideo mogło zostać stworzone lub zmienione przy użyciu sztucznej inteligencji.
Eksperci stwierdzili, że dostępny materiał jest niewystarczający do wydania ostatecznej odpowiedzi. Zauważyli, że nagranie jest mocno skompresowane, co jest typowe dla filmów z mediów społecznościowych, a taka kompresja usuwa wiele technicznych śladów, które zazwyczaj pomagają w identyfikacji deepfake'ów. Specjaliści nie znaleźli żadnych oczywistych artefaktów wizualnych ani dźwiękowych potwierdzających użycie AI, ale również nie wykluczyli tej możliwości. Według nich, analiza oryginalnego pliku i jego metadanych jest konieczna do ostatecznego wniosku.
The dispute over the TikTok account
Dodatkowe pytania pojawiły się w związku z pochodzeniem samego wideo. Parzyszek twierdził, że konto, z którego opublikowano wideo, nie istnieje. Jednak dziennikarze odkryli cyfrowe ślady wskazujące, że na tym profilu wcześniej regularnie publikowano różne filmy związane z posłem. W opinii redakcji może to sugerować, że konto zostało usunięte po rozpoczęciu skandalu.
