Ivona Wieczorek, a young resident of Gdańsk, went missing in July 2010. Ivona Wieczorek went missing on the night of July 16 to 17, 2010, in the Tricity area — between Sopot and Gdańsk. She was 19 years old. She was walking home after a night spent with friends at clubs in Sopot. She was very close to home.
The last confirmed sighting of Ivona was captured by a surveillance camera around 4:12 AM. She is seen walking in the coastal area near the entrance to beach No. 63 in Gdańsk-Żeliwna. About 2–2.5 kilometers remain to her home.
After that — silence. No confirmed witnesses, no recordings, no found items that could help reconstruct her path.
Ivona was walking along a road she knew well — a popular coastal promenade used by locals. This is why her disappearance is so difficult to explain: she was almost at her destination, in an area where there could theoretically have been people, light, and cameras.
The investigation established that between the last camera recording and the subsequent route, there is a «gap.» This is a section where there are no direct observation records or reliable evidence. It is in this gap that Ivona disappears.
One of the key elements of the case is the girl’s mobile phone. It was detected on the network for some time after her disappearance, but then it stopped sending signals. The device has never been found.
For the investigation, this is one of the most significant dead ends: there are no messages, no geolocation data, no final signal that could indicate the location of the incident.
