In Gdańsk, a man stole goods and returned to the same store, trying to pass himself off as his twin brother — he was apprehended

A man stole a hairdryer and a curling iron worth over 3,600 zlotys. A few days later, he returned to the same store, and when he was recognized, he tried to avoid responsibility by giving the police his twin brother’s details.

On Tuesday of last week, police from the precinct in Wrzesc received a report that a man had entered an electronics store who had stolen a hair straightener and a hairdryer worth over 3,600 zlotys a few days earlier

The criminal was identified by a security guard who detained him and reported to the police

The employees verified the man's identity, however, he made an unusual attempt to evade responsibility

— The detained person insisted all the time that he had stolen nothing and that he was probably mistaken for his twin brother, — reports KMP in Gdańsk. — However, after checking police systems, comparing photographs, and analyzing criminal records, it turned out that he is another person, not the one he claims to be.

A 34-year-old man attempted to deceive the police, hoping that by giving his brother's information, he could evade criminal responsibility.

However, the plan did not work: he was charged with two counts of theft of property worth over 3,600 zlotys. For this, he faces up to 5 years in prison
