In Gdynia, a man stole chips and beer — now he faces up to 10 years in prison

In Gdynia, a 28-year-old man attempted to steal a pack of chips and beer from a store without paying. When the seller tried to stop him, the situation escalated sharply: the perpetrator began to threaten with scissors and pepper spray, after which he fled.

However, he was unable to escape responsibility. Already the next night, around one o’clock, police arrested the suspect near the Gdynia Główna train station. Upon seeing the police officers, he tried to hide, but was quickly subdued.

During the search, the man was found with a knife, pepper spray, and other items that could have been used during the incident. Clothes matching those he wore at the time of the crime were also seized.

Initially, it was a case of theft, but due to the threats and use of violence, the charges were reclassified. Now the man faces charges of armed robbery — a crime that could result in up to 10 years in prison. The court has already placed him under police supervision and prohibited him from approaching the victims and visiting the store where everything happened.
