Conflict between employees and management escalates at the Pomeranian Voivodeship Office in Gdańsk

Employees of the office sent an anonymous statement to the editorial office of Trojmiasto.pl — they claim that they fear the consequences at work. According to them, the management style of the director has been leading to worsening working conditions and an internal crisis in the institution for over two years.

Among the main complaints:

  • psychological pressure and signs of mobbing,
  • an atmosphere of fear and constant control,
  • overloading with tasks without a real possibility to complete them,
  • chaos at work due to unnecessary meetings and unrelated tasks,
  • communication and management problems.

The authors of the statement claim that this has already led to a deterioration in the psychological state of employees, an increase in sick leaves, and resignations. According to them, teams are falling apart, and the work of the institution is under threat. They also reported that they filed a complaint with the Prime Minister demanding an investigation and a change of leadership.

Position of the authorities

The spokesperson for the voivode Beata Rutkiewicz — Krystian Kłos — stated that there was only one official complaint before — in July 2024, and it was also anonymous. At that time, the voivode requested the opinion of the trade unions, and they assessed Świetlikowska’s work positively. After that, the case was closed.

Recently, the trade unions again confirmed the positive assessment of Świetlikowska’s work.

According to the representative of the voivode, the data on mass layoffs are not confirmed, and Beata Rutkiewicz herself highly values the director’s work and does not plan to change her.

He also noted that some of the criticism may come from employees dissatisfied with the changes and stricter requirements. According to him, Świetlikowska is implementing modern management methods and is trying to rectify the difficult state of the institution, which it was in before: disorganization, lack of repairs, and outdated equipment.

The authorities claim that the changes are already yielding results, and work on improvements continues.
